Rector

The Reverend Dennis D. Patterson Jr. was installed as the 13th Rector of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church on November 19, 2008.  Prior to arriving at St. Cyprian’s, Dennis served two years as Assistant to the Rector at Grace Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Harold Cobb Jr. While at Grace he worked with Campus Ministry and Christian Education.    

Rev. Patterson is a native of Norfolk, Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Norfolk State University. After graduation, he spent several years as a counselor and group facilitator at the Barry Robinson Center, a behavioral healthcare organization dedicated to serving the needs of emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children.

Dennis holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Union Theological Seminary in Manhattan, New York and a Post Graduate Diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.

Rev. Patterson is married to Monica, who is also a Norfolk native and is employed by Norfolk Southern Corporation.  They have one daughter and reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  In his spare time, Rev. Patterson enjoys spending time with family, exercising, playing golf, and traveling.
